YOU SAID: "I JUST learned about a month ago it was illegal. And I did attempt to go through the licensing process however my windows were too far up and my fence was 2.5inches shorter than they require it to be. So in this instance the $24.00 was not ALL we would have to put out. I do not agree with the licensing regulations...." MY RESPONSE: I am sorry to hear that there were corrections that you needed to make in order to provide a SAFE and SECURE environment in order to provide care for children. Remember, all licensed providers also have to follow these same regulations. But, that doesn't mean that simply because you don't agree that you should now be within your rights to disregard the rules and/or support others to violate the law. You of course are entitled to your own opinion, but, that is just what it is YOUR OPINION! I personally don't agree with your opinion, others as well may not agree. It's obvious the opinion of the state agency that is responsible to license providers keeping safety in mind for children in care the first priority. Do you understand why there is regulated height (floor to sill) width/height (accessible opening of the window that would allow for an escape route) for windows? In the event of a fire there needs to be alternate routes of escape and if the windows are too high or too small this could compromise the safety of the children in your care. If you can't reach the window to climb through to escape or you don't fit though the functional opening this doesn't provide an alternate route of escape. YOU SAID: "and I feel that if a licensor goes after ONE person they should be out there going after ALL unlicensed daycares." RESPONSE: I agree what makes you think they don't? The licensors are not able to notify and educate all unlicensed providers if they don't know who is providing unlicensed care. Hence the reason they notify unlicensed providers when it is brought to their attention or they come across these providers themselves. The objective would be not to shut down but to educate and license providers. YOU SAID: "In conclusion I would like to add it should be a parents RIGHT to choose who they want to go after." RESPONSE: Again we are back to opinions. This is YOUR OPINION and don't get me wrong you are entitled to your opinion. But this doesn't then allow you the right to break the law. You don't get to interpret the law for your own personal use. YOU SAID: "I think it is wrong of someone (wendy in this instance) to pursue unlicensed child care's to gain clients." RESPONSE: Again, your opinion. Did she share with you that she is trying to shut down all unlicensed providers so she can gain a few clients? Really this seems highly unlikely (but that is only my opinion). Or are you just frustrated that she is licensed, is proud of that and she worked hard for that license and she truly cares for the health and safety of children. To make such a blatant statement that she is only trying to shut down unlicensed providers for her own personal gain is irresponsible and wrong. Opinions.....everyone is entitled to one. It' doesn't make it right just makes it an opinion. YOU SAID: "I also think it shows how much of a life someone doesn’t have. It wouldn’t surprise me if this Wendy lady ends up having the licensing agency at HER door because of a false accusation on her end so that this unlicensed daycare can "get back at her". I just think licensed providers should be careful when checking out unlicensed daycares. RESPONSE: Seems silly that you should have to resort to threats and false accusations. It's sad that we as responsible, caring adults (who want to provide care for children) would stoop to making threats and telling lies. What example does this set for the younger generation? YOU SAID: "It 1) isn’t there job;" RESPONSE: Did you ever hear the saying "it takes a village to raise a child". We are all supposed to be responsible adults let's help each other make it right. Maybe someone like yourself was unaware that it is illegal to provide care without a license, so now you know and you now have the ability to correct it or stop providing care. YOU SAID: "it is the licensor's job to find these people 2) be smart, don't use your real name/email address. and 3) consider the fact that you may be ruining someone's life over this." RESPONSE: keeping in mind that someone's life could be ruined over this is right, what if a child was injured or heaven forbid died because of something that could have been prevented simply by following the regulations and guidelines. But if someone was unaware of these rules because they were not licensed it would be a tradgedy on all sides.
