Looking for partners to start a self-defense study and practice group in Western/European Combat Arts based on historical medieval and modern combative martial arts. Looking to study everything from historical arts (such as 15-16 century grappling, longsword, dagger and polearms) to modern combatives (such as grappling, knives, bayonet and staff). This will not be a soft style of practice but a safe way to learn and apply practical lessons in realistic uses of these arts. Physical stamina and athleticism will be a major part of this group's needs. Also, this will have little to nothing to do with fantasy role playing or SCA type of fighting, but with practical real-world applications. Therefore, this study group will focus on modern realistic defensive arts, not historical dress-up or stage-fighting.
Members of the military and law enforcement will especially find this of interest.
